Frequently Asked Makeup Artist Questions

FAQ's

Q: What brands of makeup products do you work with?

My kit is stocked with a carefully curated selection of premium and professional makeup products. While I draw from a wide range of brands, some of my trusted favorites include Charlotte Tilbury, NARS, MAKE UP FOR EVER, DIOR, Hourglass, TOM FORD, Laura Mercier, MAC, ONE/SIZE, Fenty, and more. Every product is chosen for its exceptional performance, long wear, and flawless finish; ensuring you look radiant in person, on camera, and in high-definition.

Q: Do you travel to me or can I travel to you?

As an on-location makeup artist, I travel directly to my clients for their convenience. A travel fee is applied to each service to account for time and transportation. I bring all necessary tools and products, including professional lighting, to ensure a seamless and elevated experience wherever you are.

Q: Where do you recommend setting up for makeup application in my home?

I can comfortably set up in any room of your home, with a preference for spaces that offer natural lighting. The kitchen or dining area often works well, as they typically provide both natural light and a surface for my makeup kit and tools. If available, a bar stool or higher chair is ideal to ensure your face is at eye level during the application.

Q: How should I prepare my skin before our appointment?

Proper skincare is essential for creating a smooth, long-lasting base for makeup. To prepare your skin, I recommend gently exfoliating and following with a hydrating moisturizer. Well-hydrated skin not only enhances the overall finish but also helps makeup wear more beautifully and stay in place throughout the day.

(While makeup can even out tone and cover discoloration, it cannot fully conceal texture such as dryness or bumps. Without consistent cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing, dry skin can build up on the surface, leading to uneven texture that may cause makeup to separate or crack over time.)

Q: My makeup appointment is early. How will it hold up for 12+ hours, and what should I do for touch-ups?
Your makeup is designed to be long-wearing and will hold up beautifully throughout your event. However, it's completely normal to need a few touch-ups, especially after eating, drinking, or spending time outdoors.

I recommend planning for at least one touch-up. Lip products tend to fade over time, so I suggest bringing or purchasing the lip color you'd like to wear so you can reapply as needed. For shine control, a blotting powder or translucent setting powder is ideal, especially if your event is outdoors or if you have an oil-prone complexion. Blotting papers are another great option for a quick refresh without disturbing your makeup.
