Frequently Asked Makeup Artist Questions

FAQ's

Q: What brands of makeup do you use?

I use a large variety of high quality makeup brands including: Charlotte Tilbury, NARS, MAKE UP FOREVER, DIOR, Hourglass, Tarte, Too Faced, TOM FORD, Laura Mercier, Fenty, Becca, Chanel, MAC Cosmetics, Marc Jacobs, Anastasia of Beverly Hills, Benefit, Stila and more. I also use Professional makeup brands such as: RCMA, Mehron and Graftobian. The makeup used is long wearing, and photographs beautifully for your special event, professional photos, as well as HDTV. The brand of airbrush makeup I use is Temptu.

Q: Do you travel to me or can I travel to you?

I'm an on-location makeup artist and I travel to all of my clients. Because I travel to you, a travel fee is added to your service. I will bring everything I need to you including my own lighting.

Q: Where is a good area for you to do my makeup in my home?

I can set up in any room in your home, preferably a room that has natural lighting. The kitchen or dining room is usually a great area as there tends to be natural light and a table or surface that I can set my makeup kit and tools on. A bar stool works great as a makeup chair so your face will be eye-level with me.

Q: Do I need to do anything to prepare my skin for our appointment?

Skincare helps create a better base for your makeup. The best thing you can do to prepare your skin is to gently exfoliate your skin and follow with a hydrating moisturizer. Well hydrated skin holds makeup the best, looks the best and the final result will ultimately be longer wearing. Although makeup can even out the skin color and hide discolorations, it will not hide texture (dryness) or flatten bumps. If you aren't cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing your skin properly, dry skin can build up and leave texture on your skins surface. When this happens, the makeup can't properly penetrate your skin, and it can ultimately cause your makeup to separate and crack after hours of wear. If you don't follow a skincare routine, don't worry, it's not the end of the world. I will have and use my own skin prep products on the day of your appointment. If you do follow a daily regimen, feel free to stick with your usual routine.

Q: I'm getting my makeup done early and my makeup will have to last 12+ hours. How will I touch-up?

Plan for at least one touch-up. Your makeup will stay in tact for your event, but after hours, lip products will fade, and you might get a little extra shine. I do suggest that you bring or purchase a lip product that you would like to wear, so that it may be re-applied throughout the day/night. A blot powder/translucent powder is also a great idea if your event is outdoors in the heat, or if you tend to get oily. Blotting papers work great too! Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept Cash (preferred), Zelle/Quickpay, Cashapp and Venmo.

Q: Is gratuity included in your rates?

Gratuity is not included in a makeup artists rate, but it is always greatly appreciated. Standard gratuity rates for services are 15-20%.
